CSCS Health & Safety Training

CSCS — Health & Safety

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is an industry standard for ensuring that employees have a basic level of Health & Safety knowledge for working in the construction industry.

A CSCS is card is issued when a Health & Safety test is passed AND an individual can demonstrate that they have previous experience of working in construction and/or possess an SVQ level 1 qualification in a construction related subject.

CraigOwl Communities offers training to enable individuals to prepare for the Health & Safety test. The training includes:-

  • Sitting of H & S practice tests
  • Booking of one actual H & S test
  • A DVD or Book of sample questions to keep
  • Tutor support

Attendance is flexible and you can attend for up to four sessions of two hours to ensure you are confident enough to sit the actual test.

Once you are confident that you have the knowledge to attempt the real test, CraigOwl will book a test on your behalf on a date that suits you.

You can use your Individual Learning Account (ILA) to cover the costs of training.

On passing the H&S test you will not automatically gain a CSCS card. You must be able to get a previous employer to sign the CSCS application form confirming you have experience working in the industry or provide evidence of an SVQ level 1 qualification in a construction related subject. There is an extra charge for applying for the CSCS card which CraigOwl does not cover.
