Moving Forward

Moving Forward is a life skills project aimed at people with homelessness issues or chaotic lifestyle and provides help with:

  • Basic cookery — making simple, healthy, economic meals
  • Basic do-it-yourself — making up flat-pack furniture, fixing shelves and loose fittings, painting and decorating
  • Introduction to using IT for Internet and email
  • Getting used to working alongside other people
  • Feeling confident and able to communicate with officials and people who can help you
  • Knowing where to go for help with moving on into learning or employment opportunities

This programme runs in conjunction with Cyrenians, mainly at the Wishart Centre, with friendly CraigOwl staff providing the tuition.

Anyone with a homelessness issue or chaotic lifestyle is eligible.

If you would like to know more, either for yourself or on behalf of someone else, email info@craigowl.com and someone will contact you, or call Julia on 01382 205094.

Other Activities

From time to time CraigOwl runs other short-term projects aimed at helping people to learn something new or tackle issues that are preventing them from reaching their full potential.

Keep checking this page or simply drop in at Whitfield, Hilltown or Coldside to find out what is going on.

We don’t run like a school or a college and we don’t have ‘teachers’ or ‘lecturers’. We have tutors to work alongside you and help you to learn, as well as plenty of games and learning techniques to make it fun. All our centres are informal and friendly but at the same time the learning provision is excellent with lots of high-spec computers and up-to-date learning resources.
