About CraigOwl CommunitiesCraigOwl Communities was established in April 2002 as a company limited by guarantee with charitable status, to continue the previous work of the Chamber of Commerce training division in community based projects addressing issues of disadvantage and exclusion. The company aims to provide or assist in providing training, education, guidance or other support to enable people suffering disadvantage or exclusion to improve their circumstances and realise their career potential; and to provide capacity building support to the voluntary and community sector. Social enterprise development is an emerging activity of increasing importance for sustainability and employment generation. The geographical scope of the company is currently Tayside and Fife, with plans to develop further a field in the future. It is anticipated that a number of current projects will result in the establishment of small social enterprises or social firms. Currently the company has inclusion, employability and capacity building programs at four sites in Dundee, and two catering enterprises in other organisations’ premises in Fife. The Chief Executive of CraigOwl Communities has many years’ experience in training, business development and fund raising; and a proven track record in providing appropriate training and support to disadvantaged groups. We are developing a strong team of people with management, development and project delivery skills. We have been particularly successful in working in partnership with other public and voluntary sector organisations, e.g. local authorities, local Housing Associations, Communities Scotland, Jobcentre Plus, Scottish Enterprise, SCVO, CSV’s; and with specialist voluntary organisations for work with our project participants.
